We as taxpaying citizens of South Africa, request that  in light (or lack of) the recent power outages, and in the continuance thereof with no hope of improvement - we request that the South African government rule that any items that we buy in order to continue business or to facilitate normal daily lives - should be a tax relief item.

Since the provision of Electricity is an expected service from government, for which we pay tax and pay our Eskom accounts. - and without electricity we are forced to buy generators and backup devices to continue business.

These items are very expensive in some cases are not items that we have budgeted for, or can readily afford.

Therefore we request that we may expect a full tax rebate on our taxes for any items we may need to purchase as businesses or as citizens.

These items include generators, gas appliances, battery backups, torches, surge suppressors, candles, batteries and so forth.

Any item that we can prove we needed to purchase should be a tax rebate item.

Electricity supply is an expectation that we have from our government and country - and it is due to bad planning that we have to make plans to continue living and working in South Africa.

This lack of planning was not our fault and something we should not have to pay for.

Therefore we expect this to be considered against our tax.

The government are imposing PENALTIES and price increases - even though this is ALL their fault! Not ours. See: http://www.fin24.co.za/articles/default/display_article.aspx?ArticleId=1518-25_2258551
