IS OUR INTENTION TO SUBMIT THIS PETITION TO THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE AND CONSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

South Africa's ruling ANC party is looking into changing the country's provincial and local government structures and moving to scrap South Africa's nine provinces all together, a move we say is being done to eliminate political opposition.

We strongly oppose the Constitution 17th Amendment Bill, which will give the government increased powers of intervention in both provincial and local government.

The intentions of the 17th Amendment is strongly questioned and opposed.

The amendment is a means for the ANC to maintain control in areas it has lost at the ballot box.

74   Luka Venter   I believe that the function of Parliament isn't just to govern the country, but better our country too. The 17th Amendment Bill seems like a ploy to rid the ANC of opposition, aren't we a democracy?
