Greyton's healthy environment, enjoyed by residents and visitors alike, is being marred by an illegal dump situated close to the southern boundary of the town.
The dump, officially closed by the Theewaterskloof (TWK) Municipality some time ago, continues to be used on a daily basis. The roads leading to the dump are strewn with litter and the dump itself burns continuously, releasing acrid and unhealthy smoke into the air.
All residents and visitors to Greyton are asked to sign this petition, to be presented to the TWK Municipality at the end of August 2008.

I also visited Greyton and it can\'t be a dumping sute. Find other more remote areas.

It is essential that this dump is moved for Greyton to sustain it's desirability as a place to live, both aesthetically and for health reasons.

There is also tons of builders' rubble being dumped on top of what used to be a lovely fynbos site with disperis, gladiolus, babiana etc.

the current dump is an embarassment and environmental threat

A serious health hazard and an eyesore! Much local effort goes into developing Greyton as a tourist attraction so as to provide regular work for the many previously disadvantaged people.

The current situation around the iilegal dump is totally unacceptable. It is unhealthy and unsightly. Surely alternative arrangements can be. Use some of the funds from our recent BIG rates hike !!

properly managed the rubbish dump could be a financial asset rather than an eyesore and a health hazard.
